Hey, are you okay?

“Hey are you okay?”
But she cannot hear you,
For her ears are filled with songs sung by the tallest of mountains
calling at her from a world far away.
Where melodies angrily crash together
creating chaotic harmony

“Hey are you okay?”
But she cannot see you,
For her eyes are glazed with glimmers of the heavens
taking her to a more beautiful place.
Where the colours collide and dance
in the rhythm of dulcet song

“Hey are you okay?”
But she cannot feel you,
For her hand are gliding through the purest of waters
in a river, hidden beyond creation.
Where she feels textures blend and churn,
rippling with a chilling lullaby

She is here but she is not
Awake yet in a dream
Floating through her existence
“Hey are you okay?”

no.

but she will be.

Olivia is a 17-year-old girl living in Toronto, Ontario. She is going into her last year of high school at Havergal College, and she loves to write short stories and poetry to help express the world around her. Olivia wrote this poem about being drunk at a party to the point where it can become dangerous due to how unaware you are of the world around you. It is not only about this out of body experience, but also about how to come back from these scary situations, alluded to in the final line, saying even if you are not okay right now, things will get better.
